Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was born and raised in Barcelona. Her eclectic style of music has earned her the status of "atypical pop star". When she was of thirteen, she fell in fascination with Spanish folk music. She then studied musicology at the Catalonia College of Music. She was also seen at weddings and music bars. The album reinvented flamenco by combining it with pop music and hip-hop music. The songs "Malamente", and "Pienso En Tu Mira" were popular among the Spanish public , and were met with widespread critical acclaim. Recognized as the winner of the Latin Grammy Award for Album of the Year and featured in the Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, El Mal Querer started the ascendance of Rosalia into the world of music. Rosalia, who explored urban music in her 2019 albums "Con Altura" and "Yo Ti Tu x Mi", achieved global success. Her third album, Motomami (2022), she gave reggaeton a fresh approach, deviating slightly from the flamenco sound of the first. The album gained international attention with its singles "La Fama" and "Saoko" and was subsequently the album that received the highest rating this year by Metacritic. Throughout her career, Rosalia has accumulated ten top-ten singles in her home country, the most for a local artist. She has also won two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the year awards) as well as four MTV Video Music Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, three UK Music Video Awards and two Premio Ruido awards, among other awards. Billboard gave her the Rising Star Award in 2019 for "changing the current music landscape through her flamenco-influenced pop"[1818. She was also the first Latino-singing artist to be nominated for the Grammys for Best New Artist. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. She is the youngest of four children born to Pilar Tobella, an entrepreneur who owns a tiny metalworking company. Jose Manuel Vila was her father. He was born in Cudillero (Asturias). They divorced in 2019. Her 23-year-old older sister, Pilar "Pili" Vila (born 1989) and works alongside Rosalia as her stylist and creative director. Rosalia showed an interest in performing arts at an early age, and particularly after discovering the discography of Camaron de la Isla. In the Taller de Musics, she began her music education. She completed a six-year course at the academy. She started in the Raval school, but later moved to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. Also, she was a soloist, singing at weddings and in bars with musical music. In exchange, she was paid "a little more than 80 euros" or in return for dinner.
