April Ross
April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball players who have earned medals at least twice in an Olympics. She is set to compete in Tokyo for her third Olympic gold medal along with Alix Klineman, a first-time Olympian. Ross's goal is to win her first Olympic Gold. It could be the last chance she'll ever have to do so at the age of 39. She remains optimistic that she will be able to win top awards. Ross was reported on NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your best, even if you play well we will get the gold. Therefore, I'm hoping to have the chance also. Ross born in 1982 and lived in Costa Mesa California with her sister and parents, began playing the sports of the Newport Harbor High School. Ross went on to play in a myriad of sports in Newport Harbor High School. Apart from the indoor game, she also played basketball and jogged track as a pre-collegiate athlete. She clearly was the top in the game of indoor volleyball. In her time at high school, she played middle blocker, outside hitter and setter on the volleyball court per her bio at the college. To honor her achievements, she received the Gatorade Award for the National Player of 1999. In 2000, she won an Orange County Athlete of the Year award in volleyball. Ross and Klineman are doing what they do since the year 2017. However, Ross played a significant role in the beach volleyball scene before the pairing. The American has been a major winner in events twice, with various partners. A couple of those is an iconic player in the world of volleyball. Ross teamed up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and was also Klineman's trainer. Kessy was Ross's partner on the World Championships in 2009. In the 2012 Olympic Games, they received the gold medal. They were defeated for the gold medal by the legendary duo comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. They went on to compete for the bronze beach volleyball trophy at the Rio Olympics in 2016 along with Walsh Jennings. Ross was a student athlete with the Trojans of USC prior to the start of her professional career. She played in high school and in years prior to hitting the beach as a professional. Ross's playing time with the Trojans was amazing. As a freshmen in 2000 Her performance was rewarded with the Pac-10 and NCAA Young Player of the Year awards. The Trojans were also able to get to the Final Four with her help. Her sophomore year was the time she experienced a devastating personal loss but still managed to repeat as an All-American. The last two years with the Trojans in the program the team was led to victories by winning consecutive national championships. She was a fantastic volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female volleyball player in the NCAA. Ross was a student of International Relations at USC. Margie Ross was not able to see Ross achieve beach volleyball's top levels. Margie, Ross's mother, passed away in 2001. Ross was still a USC sophomore. Her breast cancer had been diagnosed. She is devoted to her parents who passed away. Margie has inspired her throughout her life, as well as on the beach.
